Holiday Bodrum City Weather and When to Go

Turkey’s impossibly diverse geographic features include mountains, seas, rivers, and plateaus, all of which combined produce erratic weather patterns. Though areas of Turkey may differ drastically in temperature on the same day, you won’t have to worry because Bodrum manages to maintain a moderate, Mediterranean climate. Turks actually come here to escape the weather of other areas in Turkey!

Spring and autumn are ideal seasons to visit Bodrum. Summer is not so good because temperatures can reach an uncomfortable 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), and the months of June, July and August are prime time for mosquitoes. Early or late in the year visits can have beautiful sunny days but the evenings can be very cool - often a jumper or jacket is needed particularly towards the end of October. The cooler weather also encourages more mosquitos. Although temperatures rarely drop below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter, tourism during this season is not typical in Bodrum. There is too much rainfall to enjoy all that Bodrum has to offer, and it would be wiser to wait until the city dries out a bit. Many shops and restaurants close or significantly reduce the services offered between November and April. Some hotels actually shut down for some or all of this time.

The only other time you may wish to avoid visiting is Kurban Bayrami, an Islamic 4 day holiday that takes place on varying dates depending on the year. The problem with traveling during this time is that all of Turkey spends the week traveling, too - usually to places with good weather, like Bodrum. Traffic congestion, store closings, and overbooked accommodations are some of the problems that may plague you if you travel during Kurban Bayrami.
