Turkey has a lot to offer when it comes to family holidays with beautiful beaches, glorious weather and a fascinating culture. With many travel agents offering great-value package deals it is now possible to find cheaper holidays to Turkey than ever before.

Getting There

For family beach holidays Dalaman Airport is conveniently located close to many of the most popular southern resorts including Kalkan, Patara, Olu Deniz and Gocek. Alternatively, Bodrum is the gateway to the somewhat less touristy but family friendly Bodrum Peninsular. Hiring a car can be a good option for families who wish to explore beyond the main resorts as the Turkish coast hides many secluded beaches and charming traditional villages.

Around Dalaman

The beaches around Dalaman are a safe bet for families with small children. Golden sands, shallow waters and beachside amenities abound at the resorts of Olu Deniz, Gocek and Kalkan. If you are searching for a quieter, more laid back experience then bohemian Patara is a good option. Its 18km beach is sure to keep the kids happy and the town has much more of a traditional feel than the bigger resorts. Dalyan is another quieter resort and is great for families who enjoy exploring the great outdoors. The Roman ruins at Xanthos are a short distance from these resorts and make for a good family day trip.

The Bodrum Peninsular

There are also a variety of gorgeous beaches on the Bodrum peninsular, and a holiday to this area of Turkey will suit families that like to mix beach time with cultural visits and outdoor activities. The mountainous landscape creates ideal terrain for mountain biking, horse rising and hiking. Traditional Turkish towns and markets, like the one held at Yalikavak, are great places to experience authentic Turkish culture, shop for souvenirs and sample local flavours.

Hamilton Island is one of the most popular Islands in the Whitsunday largely because of being largest inhabitable island. Located in Queensland , Australia the island was formed just like most of Whitsunday group of islands due to the rising of sea levels that created many drowned mountains which are situated very close to Australia’s east coast.
