The settlements in Cappadocia were built mostly in the valleys of Goreme, Ihlara and Soganli. The most intensive settlement was located near the town of Goreme. The Church with the Sandalwood is located in the far north of the Valley. In the Valley of Ihlara obtained derogation from the Aksaray-Nevsehir Street, there are 36 churches, each of which is more interesting than the other. During the early hours of the spread of Christianity shaped the people who had to hide from the Arab raids, these tough rocks, so churches building, and built underground cities to defend themselves against the attacks. The tough rocks which are formed by the lava, headed by these two mountains during geological times, has continued to make constantly changing shapes with friendly effects, while the Zeitlaufes and the wonders of the world of that were created today. This juxtaposition of different materials has produced with dark caps known as peribacalari-covered pillars, pyramids and conical formations.
