The Galata Tower, called Christea Turris (Italian, "Tower of Christ") by the Genoese, is a medieval stone tower in the Galata district of Istanbul, Turkey, just to the north of the Golden Horn. Galata borrows its name from Galatians, Celts of Anatolia, stayed here for a while on the way to ancient Ankyra (Ankara), Pessinus (near Ankara) and Tavium near Yozgat today. More >>>
